In 2007, our founder, Ron Albeg, was an ordinary guy working at his retail shoe business. One day, Ron had seen worrying news of an international tainted dog treat epidemic and grew worried for his dog, so he knew he had to do something. He wanted the very best for his own four-legged family. So, Ron started experimenting in his home kitchen to create the highest quality, naturally nutritious jerky treats possible without cutting corners. Ron shared his jerkies with friends in the neighborhood, and what he found started a dog treat revolution.

Since the tainted dog treats were coming from out of the country, Ron knew early on that every ingredient used in his recipes must be grown & sourced from the U.S.A. to ensure quality. The name Preen Pets was thought of by his wife Michele, Preen meaning to clean oneself, exactly like how we promise clean ingredients. As more pups discovered Ron's uniquely dehydrated jerkies, he established the business and launched our website. In 2010, he opened our first USDA human-grade kitchen facility in Deer Park, NY. We expanded our menu slowly, testing recipes like frites and meatballs, and even health targeted treats with Omega-3s. Nutrients naturally remain and enrich our treats from his special slow dehydrating process. Each recipe was tested by Ron’s own mini Schnauzer, Scruffy, and himself!

Preen Pets became more than a local secret. What was once an idea to simplify what we feed our dogs, became a uniquely healthy handmade dog treat operation. Attention to our high quality minimal ingredients quickly grew across the country by word of mouth, forcing Ron to expand production once more. Some dogs even decided on their own they will only eat our treats! Through diligent research, Ron found our current facility in Eldred, PA. Our home in Pennsylvania, where everything happens, keeps your favorite pup well-nourished and treated as one of our own. Ron continued to expand our product line to over 40 varieties of treats to ensure dogs of every taste, size, and sensitivity are satisfied. Ron vowed to always keep every single recipe simple and clean.

To this day, we uphold every promise made from Ron's first idea. Every treat is crafted with your dog in mind and is upheld to the highest of standards.
